For the benefit of those who don't know, Stephen King did write a sequel in 2013 called Doctor Sleep.
It follows a middle aged Danny (now Dan) eventually working at a nursing home who along with the assistance of a cat, uses his 'shining' abilities to help the terminally ill find peace in death.
He bonds with young girl Abra Stone, but members of a group called The True Knot want her for themselves, as they feed on 'steam' peeps like her produce.
Best described as a supernatural thriller, it's okay, but just don't expect horror.
Will this or prequel happen on the big screen?
Hopefully not.
Here's Dirty Harry and Mad Max of Garbage Pail Kids fame, (twins of Rob Slob and Brainy Brian respectively).
In name at least, could aliases be referencing Clint Eastwood's no-nonsense San Francisco detective and Mel Gibson's road warrior?

After 1923 silent effort, Victor Hugo's classic novel The Hunchback of Notre-Damme was next adapted for the screen in 1939, with screen legend Charles Laughton ringing a bell as Quazimodo.
Way before the 1996 Disney film, 1983 Century Electronics arcade Hunchback inspired a number of home computer sequels.
