Video games and film references - Act II

No offence to N64 original Conker's Bad Fur Day, but I'm using Xbox remake Conker: Live & Reloaded.

Jaws (Estuary victim)

Return of the Jedi

The Terminator
BUFF YOU ASSHOLE!
2001: A Space Odyssey
HAL 9000
Aliens

Apocalypse Now
The horror!
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Watch for that boulder...
Oops, too late.
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
I suppose this refs Mr Creosote.
A Clockwork Orange
The Wizard of Oz
"I'm flushing" rather than "I'm melting."
Saving Private Ryan
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Tediz instead of Nazis.

Ha ha ha!

The Matrix (Neo and lobby shootout)

Conker seizing samurai sword from weapon rack at the end becomes:

Butch from Pulp Fiction.
The Untouchables (baseball bat)

Not bad for starters.

Blade Runner

Theme and content of Fallout 3 side quest The Replicated Man makes multiple references to Ridley Scott's classic, and of course the novel that inspired it - Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

During main quest Finding the Garden of Eden, Fawkes says "Wake up, time to die."

Before taking one to the head, Leon (Brion James) said the the same thing to Deckard.

Alien: Isolation (Various)
Origami unicorns can be seen on board the Torrens.
Under a Killing Moon (DOS)
Daryl Hannah famously played Pris.
One more.

Grand Theft Auto V (Various)
One of Vinewood's classics is The Shoulder of Orion II.
Title of fake film is taken from excerpt of Roy Batty's Tears in Rain monologue, "attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion."
Day of the Tentacle (DOS)

Star Wars

Help us, Dr. Edison.  You're our only hope!

Love it.

Stormtrooper helmet
Darth Vader calendar
More. More More.

Descent II (Various)
Here goes nothing.
The Lost Vikings (Amiga)
I have a bad feeling about this...
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (DOS)
Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be true.
Guybrush is horrified to learn that LeChuck is his brother.
Silent Hill (PS1)
Credits sequence during secret UFO ending is obviously stylised on opening title crawl.
Viewtiful Joe (Gamecube/PS2)
Die Fighter? Come on...
From a galaxy far, far away.... to.

Fallout 4 (Various)
Jaws
Machete and headband is a nice touch, but WHY does Quint's body possess less meat than a chicken nugget and WHY has three tonnes of instant white death mutated into a bloated dolphin?

I mean come on - creature looks fuck all like a shark.
If I remember correctly, poor bastard was devoured.

In hindsight, maybe I should've listened to Brody and radioed in for a bigger boat.
Moving on.

Hitman: Codename 47 (Various)
Scarface (1983)
Say hello to my little friend.
Day of the Tentacle (DOS)
The Fly (1986)
Chron-o-johns could well be based on Seth Brundle's telepods.
Metal Slug X (Neo Geo)
Independence Day
Pit Fighter (Arcade)
Highlander
There can be only one.
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (DOS)
The Terminator
I'll BE back.
The Secret of Monkey Island (DOS)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
One of the options is 'it belongs in a museum'.
Devil May Cry 3 (PS2)
The Matrix
Dante bends back and avoids missile in slow-mo.
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3/360)
Platoon
Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is both poignant and powerful.
Predator: Concrete Jungle (PS2/Xbox)
Okay, it's not the same, but scene is similar to Predator 2.
Check it out.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle (Wii)

Bishop Shidux's severed head in a bag is likely to be a reference to Seven.

The Last of Us (PS3)
Jurassic Park
Just in case you need reminding of Brachiosaur scene.

Futuristic cut scene is in itself a reference to movie theatre near the beginning showing Giraffic Park.  You can also see Dawn of the Wolf (maybe reffing Dawn of the Dead) and Point Broken (surely Point Break).

The Shining

Marvel Super Heroes (Arcade)
'All work and no play, makes Hulk a grouchy boy.'
With that said, Hulk and Betty are off to Vegas.
Resident Evil 2 (PS1)
In either scenario, a wooden board partially displays Redrum.

Here's some stage refs attached to...

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

The Land of the Livid Dead (Night of the Living Dead)
The Longest Shortcut (The Longest Yard)

Rayman Origins

World, stage and level?

I've got shit covered.

Swimming with Stars (Swimming with Sharks)
Glade of Dreams (Field of Dreams)

Rayman Legends

How to Shoot Your Dragon (How to Train Your Dragon)
Toad Story (Toy Story)
Snakes on a Cake (Snakes on a Plane)
Castle in the Clouds (Castle in the Sky?)
Swarmed and Dangerous (Armed and Dangerous)
Dragon Slayer (Dragonslayer)
20,000 Lums Under the Sea (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea)

Title character of underappreciated classic Viewtiful Joe is a parody of Shônarô Ishinomori's superhero Kamen Rider.

Jaws

Gran Bruce
Spielberg named shark after his lawyer Bruce.
Mixing things up, submarine is named after the Orca.
I was gonna save spoof posters in credits for another time, but...

The Viewtiful Escape¹ vs The Hunt for Red October

Joe & Silvia vs Star Wars (1977² original)

Joe the Hero vs Dracula il Vampiro (Italian for Horror of Dracula)³

2,000,000 Leagues Under the Sea vs Jaws 2

The Magnificent 5 vs Gladiator (2000)

Some Like It Red Hot⁷ vs King Kong (1976)

His Master's Dance vs The Sting

¹Pun on The Great Escape.
²Episode IV A New Hope was added for theatrical re-release in 1981.
³To avoid confusion with Dracula (1931), Dracula (1958) was also renamed Horror of Dracula in America, and marked the first performance from Christopher Lee as the Count.
Pun on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.  Introductory line 'The aquatic film from the terrifying No. 1 best seller' is a variation of blurb appearing on the somewhat famous poster of Jaws.  Namely, 'The terrifying motion picture from the terrifying No. 1 best seller'.
Pun on The Magnificent Seven (1960), a Wild-West themed reimagining of Seven Samurai, which was remade in 2016.
Not to be confused with different 1992 film of same name.
Pun on Some Like It Hot.
Pun on HMV trademark His Master's Voice.

Stage titles in sequels kept refs up.

Viewtiful Joe 2

Viewtiful Heroes and the Statue of Doom (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom)
Thunder Boy Lives Twice (You Only Live Twice)
Starship Viewties (Starship Troopers)
Ten-Million Years B.C. (One Million Years B.C.)

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble

Nightmare in X'mas (A Nightmare on Elm Street series)
Gone in 160 Secs (Gone in 60 Seconds)
Viewtiful Joe Begins (Batman Begins)

Léon: The Professional

Here's a few homages to Natalie Portman's character Matilda, or is it Mathilda?

After completing Resident Evil 4 for the first time, the Merchant will be more than happy to sell Leon a Matilda.
Mathilda is a character in Madworld (Wii) and sequel Anarchy Reigns.
Completely unrelated, but Matilda is a Roald Dahl novel, which was adapted for the screen in 1996.

Back to the Future series

World Heroes (Neo Geo)
Doctor Brown
(honestly) invents a time machine so fighters from different time periods can prove who is the strongest.
Doc reacts to such absurdity.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1)
On noticeboard, there's a publicity still of Back to the Future Part III.

Clearing up what t'other arrow is pointing to.

Rather bizarrely, it's High Grant and Andie MacDowell of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Wow.

Same photograph of Doc, Clara and Marty debuted in Resident Evil 2 (PS1).
Finally.

Tiny Toons Adventures (SNES)

The Western Movie stage

In this 'alternate' 1885, the clock tower was completed 70 years early.
Err, okay.
Even though it was 131 in film, we ride Locomotive No. 121.
Artistic licence?

Buster Bunny and Montana Max give railroad cart some welly and reach 88 m.p.h.
Until next time.
