Summary
Fed up of abusive relationship with mega rich partner Adrian, Cecilia legs it.
Two weeks later, Cecilia learns from sister Emily that Adrian topped himself and left her a cool $5m as a backhanded apology.
Cause for celebration?
Initially yes, but numerous 'coincidences' leads Cecilia to believe that Adrian isn't dead and has figured out a way to become invisible.
But how can one say something so ludicrous without sounding like a crazy bitch?
Sleeping with the 'Invisible' Enemy
For those unfamiliar with premise of 1991 film, Laura (Julia Roberts) flees from psychotic husband Martin (impressively played by Patrick Bergin).
Ignoring sci-fi undertones, similarities are undeniable. Shit - they even live by the sea.
Oh yeah, almost forgot about Hollow Man.
Moss gives an intense performance and excellent cinematography ensures silence exudes ominous tension.
So far so good, but glue loses its stick towards the end.
I'll start with something really DUMB.
Cecilia meets with sister in a busy restaurant to try and make amends. Unseen presence suddenly slits Emily's throat and Cecilia is arrested.
Fine. But here's an idea - why not have police check security camera footage?
Oh that's right, eatery didn't have one.
How incredibly convenient.
Yeah I know film would effectively be over, but even so.
Psychological horror gets ridiculous in the final act, as Adrian's brother Tom decides to go on a senseless murder spree.
As Predator-esque suit malfunctions, he's shot dead.
Our girl dons spare suit and murders Adrian in front of security camera, making out dude committed suicide.
We end with Cecilia smiling in triumph.
Elizabeth Banks will apparently star, produce and direct The Invisible Woman.
Guess spin-off won't be a comedy.
