I'll tear your soul apart!

First I showed you sights.

Then demons (and angels).

And now, the epic finale.

Hellraiser (1987)

Unrelated song of same name was originally recorded for Ozzy Osbourne's 1991 album No More Tears.

Motörhead version was used for the end credits of Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth.

FUCK that film.

Title is both a track and album by Swiss hard rock band Krokus.

Moving away from music, if one Googles Hellriser, search results will only return Hellraiser, suggesting the former doesn't exist.

However, I know different.

When there's no more room in hell...
...Hell will rise
Ignoring the obsession of full stops (which makes no fucking sense), gotta love how meat of tagline blatantly copies Dawn of the Dead (1978).

Sequel to Nocturnal Activity aka The Haunting of Annie Dyer, involves detectives investigating the murders of prostitutes and some bird at a mental institution is keen on opening the gates of hell (or something like that).

Oh, there's a few lesbian scenes.

Sounds brilliant, yes?

Also, why does giant hand remind me of:

The Cabin in the Woods
Seriously?

Order of the Gash

As they were known in The Hellbound Heart.

Best-selling dark fantasy manga Berserk features a group of archdemons, collectively known as the God Hand.

While I agree designs aren't nailed on (geddit?), personalities suggest Kentaro Miura had Clive Barker's signature creation in mind.

Void vs Lead Cenobite

Why does head honcho look so much like a sinister Martian?

Mars Attacks!
Like 1962 trading card series, Tim Burton's star-studded spectacle is Topps with me.

Ubik vs Butterball

Conrad vs Chatterer

Slan vs Female Cenobite

Chatterer

And no, I'm not gonna repeat Nemesis (again).

But here's more.

Failed Ripley clone - Alien Resurrection
The Hate - Condemned: Criminal Origins
Gandara - Samurai Shodown 64
Anonymous monster - Necromentia
Sad Daddy - Silent Hill: Origins
Zooming in.

Split Worm - Silent Hill 3
Cerberus - Dante's Inferno (2010)
Death Chamber regular - Dark Escape 4D
Hands and arms suggest grotesque monsters are humanoid.

Side by side.

But much worse is this.

Kansen (aka Infection) vs Wedding veil

FYI, in no way does poster represent film.

Why is iconic creature briefly dressed so?

Novella may explain symbolism.

"By some extraordinary act of will, Julia had managed to put her wedding dress on, and secure her veil upon her head."

This DOESN'T happen in the film.

Pinhead

Sawer (Cry of Fear)
John Ritter (Bride of Chucky)
Python (Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops)
Engineer

Unexplored in film, but creature's purpose in Hell is to create torture devices.
Licker's gnashers in Resident Evil: Apocalypse are practically the same.

Coincidence?

Before its mutation, original stuck impressively to Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil (2002)
Lament Configuration aka The Box

The pleasures of heaven and hell await.
Millennium Puzzle (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Solving ancient Egyptian artefact possesses user with the Yami Yugi, or Dark Yugi.  When dark spirit seizes control, it challenges foe to a Shadow Game, with loser's soul and mind subjected to a hellish penalty game.

Kick ass.

Escape Room (2019)
Blair Witch Volume III: The Elly Kedward Tale
Frank Cotton

Birth

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
Deputy Josh melting is almost identical (in reverse) to how Frank regenerates.
Bones (2001)

Very much in the mould of J. D.'s Revenge, Ernest Dickerson's under-appreciated homage to blaxploitation is now regarded as a cult classic.

Bones the dog is actually the manifestation of Jimmy's tortured spirit.
As canine eats people, flesh is transferred to Jimmy's skeleton.
Process rings a bell.

Ghost goes inside Snoop's now fully resurrected body.
Hooks and chains

Beezlebub - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
King Kitelius - Morbid: The Seven Acolytes
Troy - Saw III
Hank - Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation
Jesus wept!

Poster (cropped)

The following is just FUCKING WEIRD.

New Fantasia and Super Model
Comad created several Gals Panic¹ knock-offs and both made Pinhead a bastard vampire.
HA HA HA!

¹Series basically cloned gameplay of Taito's Qix.

But wait.

Gex: Enter the Gecko
During Scream TV World, we tackle Poltergex² (an obvious play on Poltergeist).
What's going on with random portrait?
Even though it would make complete sense, good luck finding this in Smellraiser.

(Rolls eyes).

²Stage only appears in PS1, DOS and Game Boy Color versions.  Gecques Cousteau (Sea Span) is only found in N64 port.

Anyway, why the FUCK did they remove skin and skull to expose brain?

Image inhaling crack instantly reminded me of:

Hannibal (2001)
Ray Liotta's Paul Krendler was an asshole and deserved everything he got.
Leonardo Manco (artist behind Part One of 2011 comic story Pursuit of the Flesh), did an excellent job recreating famous poster.

Miscellany

I nearly spilled the beans during Doom: Reference Me Plenty, but decided against it.

Nekravol Part II is a late section in Doom Eternal and contains human souls extracted from husks which over time, will transform into demons.

The extracted soul that remains powers their world... The Essence of Hell.

Unseen bodies gestate underneath blankets.
Here's something VERY scary.

Hellbound: Hellriaser II
Frank is tormented by naked women that instantly vanish once sheet is removed.
The ultimate tease.

Comad also picked on Barbie Wilde (who famously replaced Grace Kirby in sequel).

Miss World '96
One more.

Fantasia 2
Angelique - Hellraiser: Bloodline
Herman Carter - Dead by Daylight vs Surgeon³ - Hellraiser: Hellseeker/Hellworld

While I appreciate facial apparatus is a nod to A Clockwork Orange, ugly mugs are way too similar.

Alex endures the Ludovico Technique.
³Stygian Inquisition human member of same name appears in Hellraiser: Judgment.

Wait a mo, the Cotton house is based at 55 Ludovico Place.

Nice.

And finally.

Pale Head⁴ - Resident Evil 2 (2019) vs Chatterer Torso - Hellraiser: Inferno

Enemy debuted in Runaway and No Way Out DLC campaigns, and was recycled in the embarrassing Resident Evil 3.

That's it.

(Lower lip begins to wobble).

No tears, please.

It's a waste of good suffering.
