Willy's Wonderland - The scoop and digest

Although premise of Kevin Lewis's slasher comedy is unashamedly Five Nights at Freddy's, filmmakers deny any resemblance.

Yeah, okay then.

Nicolas Cage - The Janitor
Emily Tosta - Liv
Beth Grant - Sheriff Lund
Ric Reitz - Tex Macadoo

Summary

In Hayesville, a stranded drifter agrees to clean up a rundown entertainment centre so owner Tex Macadoo will pay to have his car fixed.

However, Willy the Weasel and his crew of psychopathic animatronic cohorts Gus Gorilla, Siren Sara, Tito the Turtle, Ozzie the Ostrich, Cammy the Chameleon, Arty the Alligator and Knighty Knight are alive and very dangerous.

Who will survive the night?

Cartoon carnage

Fans of The Banana Splits Movie should love this.

Evil Dead send-up is great fun and absurd situation ticks all the right boxes.

Here's the expositional deal.

Said complex was built in 1996 and was the brainchild of sadistic serial killer Jerry Robert Willis.

After cultivating others, families are taken to the 'Super Happy Fun Room' where Willy hosts one killer party.

Realising their murderous time was up, the police discovered sickos had performed a satanic suicide ritual, transferring memories and consciousness into non-living entities.

In this case...

Bloodthirsty kiddie characters feasting on expendable 20-somethings ensures plenty of gore and entertainment.

Cage doesn't utter a single word and performance adds another string to eclectic bow.

Weak dialogue and mechanical menace not really fighting back are my only criticisms.

A sequel is currently in development.

Bring it on.
