Summary
A pregnant woman commits suicide by throwing herself off a bridge.
In Victorian London, medical rookie Max McCandles becomes an assistant to the disfigured and brilliant surgeon Dr. Godwin Baxter.
Max soon falls in love with Baxter's experiment, a childlike woman named Bella.
After Baxter came into possession of Bella's body, he removed her brain, replaced it with the infant's and reanimated corpse with electricity.
When Bella meets Godwin's dashing lawyer Duncan, her intelligence rapidly increases, instigating a bizarre adventure of debauchery and self-liberation.
Sexual hysteria
From Lisbon to Alexandria, this was crazier than a shithouse rat and I enjoyed every minute.
Dafoe and Youssef are good value, but Stone and Ruffalo steal the show, making absurd Frankenstein fairy tale hilarious.
Film is initially shot in Game Boy vision, but permanently reverts to traditional colour once first act is completed.
Steampunk landscapes are deliciously surreal and comparable to the works of Terry Gilliam.
Does book explain and/or even feature Godwin producing huge bubbles?
