Prey for the Devil - The scoop and digest

After impressive found footage effort The Last Exorcism, Daniel Stamm belatedly returns to supernatural horror.

Jacqueline Byers - Sister Ann Kraja
Colin Salmon - Father Quinn
Virginia Madsen - Dr. Peters
Christian Navarro - Father Dante
Ben Cross - Cardinal Matthews
Posy Taylor - Natalie

Summary

In response to a global rise in demonic possession, the Catholic Church reopens a school in Boston where priests are trained in the Rite of Exorcism.

Women are forbidden to perform exorcisms, but Father Quinn sees something special in Sister Ann, and recognised to be one of God's chosen soldiers.

A young girl called Natalie becomes the primary focus, and Ann suspects she has been possessed by the same demon that led to her mother's suicide.

Will good triumph over evil?

Shame and guilt

We've seen it all before, but at least set pieces are admirably staged.

And yeah, poster of swallowing hair is recreated.

Preachy narrative irritated and performances aren't anything to write home about.

Big bad isn't physically seen and transference from Nat to Ann is basically The Exorcist on a grander scale.

However, Ann taking a dip inside a vat of holy water to rid herself of entity made sense.

I suppose this has a reason to exist, but would I care if it didn't?

Probably not.
