Scream VI - The scoop and digest

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return as directors.

Ignoring previous entry, sequels were numbered, so using numeral for title makes no sense.

Melissa Barrera - Sam Carpenter
Jenna Ortega - Tara Carpenter
Jasmin Savoy Brown - Mindy
Jack Champion - Ethan
Hayden Panettiere - Kirby
Dermot Mulroney - Wayne
Courteney Cox - Gale
Liana Liberato - Quinn
Samara Weaving - Laura

Summary

Sam has moved to New York, staying with Tara, slutty roommate Quinn, and numerous others.

An online conspiracy theory claiming Sam orchestrated last year's murders and framed Richie for them has made her public enemy number 1.

The latest Ghostface is intent on adding to her misery and targets members of Woodboro's legacy.

Family affair

Gore is substantially upped and some sequences are sharper than Ghostface's knife, but I was still bored, mainly because of bloated running time.

Explanation for Neve Campbell's absence was silly, with Gale saying she's gone into hiding.

Kirby makes a welcome return and screenplay ticks archetypal boxes.

Did the big reveal blow me away?

Not really, because it was obvious.

Wayne (Richie's father), along with Ethan and Quinn are out to avenge sibling's death.

Sigh.

Those stabbed multiple times should die from their injuries, but defy logic by surviving.

Although seventh is yet to be confirmed, I'm sure the 'core four' will return for more carnage.
