Madame Web - The scoop and digest

S. J. Clarkson is no stranger to Marvel, as she directed two episodes of Jessica Jones and The Defenders.

Anyway, her feature-length debut is the fourth in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

Dakota Johnson - Cassandra "Cassie" Webb
Sydney Sweeny - Julia Cornwall
Isabela Merced - Anya Corazon
Celeste O'Connor - Mattie Franklin
Tahar Rahim - Ezekiel Sims

Summary

In 1973, Ezekiel Sims and his pregnant partner Constance Webb discover an unidentified species of spider in the Peruvian jungle, whose rare healing properties are key to curing diseases.

Ezekiel betrays Constance and in the process of taking arachnid for himself, mortally wounds her.

Before dying, she's bitten by another spider and gives birth to Cassandra.

Thirty years later, Cassie works as a paramedic in New York.  While rescuing a person trapped inside a car hanging off a bridge, she falls into the drink and has a near-death experience.

From that moment on, Cassie realises that she can see into the future.

Meanwhile, Ezekiel has visions of teenagers Julia, Anya and Mattie who are destined to destroy him.

Cassie becomes Kyle Reese to prevent 'Ceiling Guy' from killing trio of makeshift Sarah Connors.

Toxic

(Exhales deeply).

Unspeakably loathsome from beginning until end, I'd rather be dismembered than endure this steaming pile of fucking shit again.

Complete and utter trash makes Catwoman, Morbius, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Marvels, Wonder Woman 1984, Green Lantern et al seem like masterpieces.

Superhero flicks have been on the slide for years now and genre has finally flatlined.
