Summary
Renowned scientist Seo Young-cheol tells the police he's going to unleash his mutated slime mold bioweapon at the Doongwoori building, and prior to doing so, injects himself with the vaccine to highly contagious virus.
Fictional high-rise has a shopping mall, as yet another zombie film pays homage to Dawn of the Dead.
We're made to wait, but Seo's bio-terrorist attack is revenge against unemployed professor Kwon Se-jeong, as she blew the whistle on his father for embezzlement, leading him to commit suicide.
Seo injects an employee with the slime mold and all hell breaks loose, prompting a desperate battle for survival.
Imperfect communication
Not in the same league as Busan, but still worthy of any undead aficionado's time.
The infected are temporarily paralysed under Seo's control (triggered by a Silent Hill-esque siren), and through 'information exchange', behaviour evolves in the following ways:
1. Running on all fours;
2. Standing upright; and
3. Climbing on each other.
Like ants, mucus spewing bastards communicate using pheromones, so survivors apply perfume and antifreeze to avoid detection.
Ironically, the best action sequence involves infected monkeys inside Suh's laboratory.
Shit doesn't end well for antagonist, as Kwon throws a jacket covered in mycelium over an infected, trapping hundreds in an awesome spinning ant mill.
With swarm intelligence non-existent, Kwon hides under a bus and an out-of-control horde forces Seo into a burning car.
