Jon Favreau directs and co-writes the continuation of Disney+ TV series The Mandalorian with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.
Pedro Pascal - Din Djarin/The Mandalorian
Jeremy Allen White - Rotta the Hutt
Sigourney Weaver - Colonel Ward
Jonny Coyne - Lord Janu Coin
Additionally, stunt performers Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder double for Mando, with Martin Scorsese voicing Ardennian four-armed food vendor Hugo Durant. I'd suggest name is a direct nod to his own 2011 film Hugo.
Summary
The evil Galactic Empire has fallen.
Ex-Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy, plotting the Empire's return. The fledgling New Republic has begun to reunite the galaxy.
In the lawless Outer Rim, the Madalorian and his young apprentice Grogu work to hunt down these Imperial fugitives...
This isn't the Way
Unremarkable pie is sliced into two parts:
Mando apprehending Lord Coin on Shakari, involving the Hutt Twins and Jabba's son Rotta, and Grogu rolling up rescuing sleeves after Mando is captured by bounty hunter and Kung Lao wannabe Embo, who delivers him to the Twins on Nal Hutta.
Aside from a decent opening 10 minutes or so, it's all downhill from title card.
What is essentially a two-hour TV episode, The Blandalorian and Boregu is packed with pointless filler, rubbish dialogue and a plot so inconsequential, it's almost like shit was generated by AI.
The idea of 'rescuing' Rotta copies The Clone Wars (2008), the pilot to animated TV series of same name.
Pascal and Allen White sound completely disinterested, and Ripley secures one of the easiest pay cheques of her long career.
Sure there's other stuff, but action primarily consists of Mando fighting a variety of mediocre CG monsters.
Tone and style of an unnecessarily buff Rotta engaging in gladitorial combat is remarkably similar to Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
But things get more bizarre, as Grogu blatantly gears up like Matrix in Commando (1985) and towards the end, cute little bastard tames a wolf, Crocodile Dundee (1986) style.
Unfortunately, I'm not joking.
