The Mothman Prophecies

Mark Pellington's 2002 supernatural mystery is loosely based on John A. Keel's 1975 novel of same name.

John Klein (Richard Gere) and his wife Mary (Debra Messing) are involved in a car accident when a black winged beast forces her to swerve.

She is hospitalised and diagnosed with an unrelated brain tumour, dying shortly after.

Towards the end.

John is given a message informing Mary will call at noon on Friday in Georgetown.

He also makes a connection between the kidnapping of a child and a killer known as the Engineer.

While undergoing therapy, his psychiatrist reveals himself to be Pinhead, who tells him he's been in hell ever since he solved the box.  The Engineer is a manifestation of his own cruelty and the kid is the personification of his innocence.

Summary

Fiennes basks in the sinister limelight, with icy cool demeanour exuding impressive menace.

That isn't to say that Taylor-Joy and Hoult underwhelm.

Ignoring the similarity to Ruben Östlund's Triangle of Sadness, tension dissipates in the second part and sacrificial climax by self-immolation is basically Midsommar.

However, does Slowick deserve an origins story?

Summary

King T'Challa dies from an undisclosed illness.

In the Atlantic Ocean, the CIA use a detecting machine to locate a vibranium deposit, but the Na'vi, sorry, a group of blue-skinned, superhuman underwater warriors intervene.

Namor, ruler of Talokan (basically Atlantis), views the surface world as a threat to his people's safety and confronts Shuri and Ramonda, demanding they deliver machine's creator Riri Williams to him, or else.

Nakia introduces wee lad Toussaint to Shuri, who reveals himself to be T'Challa's son.

Heart-shaped herb

Although succeeding as a moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman, this spectacularly fails on every other level.

Jesus Christ - it's so BORING.

Almost nothing happens during bloated running time and even third act sucks incredible ass.

Quality of CG stands out for the wrong reasons, and almost laughable when Namor starts jumping about and flying.

Huerta's villain is fucking useless and about as menacing as a dead slug.

Crafts steal the design of Dune's Ornithopters and Iron Man-esque exoskeleton bears an uncanny resemblance to Ultraman.

Disney+ series Ironheart is in development and will serve as a sequel.
