Summary
To isolate Kong from Godzilla, Monarch have encased a dome over Skull Island (or Kong Containment Monarch Outpost #236).
For not using 237, shame on filmmakers for missing a cute ref to The Shining.
Godzilla attacks Apex Cybernetics in Pensacola, which naturally upsets human contingent.
Apex's fleet of H.E.A.V.'s (Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicle) follow Kong inside home on Antarctica to locate power source necessary to defeat Godzilla.
However, this gives Serizawa licence to activate the true enemy.
Atomic Breathbuster
Story, screenplay and characters are predictably rubbish, but quality of scraps really surprised me.
It's just a shame that Tasman Sea and Hong Kong staging spectacular climax cannot be fully appreciated at home.
Before Godzilla and Kong team up to destroy Mechagodzilla, titans have a 'roar off'.
Who knows if Adam Wingard intended humour, but I genuinely laughed.
As well as Skullcrawlers, made for film beasties Warbats and Hellhawks add welcome variety.
While mechanical menace has appeared regularly throughout franchise's history, this is the first time he and Kong have fought.
If this is the end, at least MonsterVerse bows out with kaiju head held high.
