A Quiet Place Part II - The scoop and digest

John Krasinski returns as director for highly anticipated sequel.

Emily Blunt - Evelyn
Cillian Murphy - Emmett
Millicent Simmonds - Regan
Noah Jupe - Marcus

Summary

Opening sequence prequels original and shows long-limbed blind aliens with super sensitive hearing arriving on Earth.

Why? No explanation given.

Jumping to the present, surviving members of the Abbott family gather supplies and leave ruined home behind.

At an abandoned warehouse, we meet Lee's friend Emmett who reluctantly takes them to his underground bunker.

Monsters aren't the only danger in the outside world.

Risk free

For all the hype, I was kinda disappointed.

Performances are great (particularly Simmonds) and Polly Morgan's cinematography is excellent.

Action sequences can be exciting, but don't really exude tension like they did before.

When Emmett and Regan reach the dock searching for a boat to reach nearby island, feral gang hummed of The Last of Us.

Multiple narratives become chaotic, humans make dumb decisions and although door is purposely left open for another - ending underwhelms.

Also, it's pretty stupid that hostile invaders can't swim.

With all that said, this was still solid, but Krasinski needs to try something new for inevitable third.
