David Gordon Green ignores previous entries (including TV series), to bring a direct sequel to arguably the scariest film of all time.
Leslie Odom Jr. - Victor Fielding
Ann Dowd - Paula
Jennifer Nettles - Miranda
Norbert Leo Butz - Tony
Lidya Jewett - Angela Fielding
Olivia Markum - Katherine
Ellen Burstyn - Chris MacNeil
Summary
Puerto PrÃncipe, HaitÃ.
Victor Fielding and his heavily pregnant wife Sorenne are blessed by a voodoo practitioner.
A huge earthquake devastates surroundings and paramedics tell Victor he must choose to either save wife or unborn child Angela.
Percy, Georgia.
13 years later, Angela and her friend Katherine perform a ritual in the woods to make contact with Angela's mother.
Teenagers are found in a barn after a three day manhunt.
As their behaviour grows increasingly disturbing, Katherine's mother Miranda deduces they've been to hell and brought a demon back with them.
Body and the blood
Duller than dishwater and instantly forgettable, extremely low expectations were predictably met.
Holy shit - this was BAD.
Why give this to a guy who obviously doesn't have a fucking clue about horror?
Other than to tick a box, Burstyn reprising role was a complete waste of time.
At the end, she's reunited with estranged daughter Regan.
Rather than Pazuzu, we get Lamashtu (confusing in itself).
Who knows, maybe original demon will show up in Deceiver, or Green will be sacked?
Whatever, the power of Christ compels me to cast unholy abomination to the bowels of cinematic hell.
