Sound of Freedom - The scoop and digest

Alejandro Monteverde's controversial thriller (whom he co-wrote with Rod Barr) was actually made five years ago.

Jim Caviezel - Tim Ballard
Bill Camp - Vampiro
Cristal Aparicio - Rocío
Javier Godino - Jorge
Lucás Ávila - Miguel
Yessica Borroto - Katy/Giselle

Summary

Film is loosely based on the life of Tim Ballard, who left Homeland Security Investigations in 2013 to form anti-sex trafficking organization Operation Underground Railroad.

After Tim rescues Miguel in San Ysidro, he promises to do the same for boy's sister Rocío, taking him on a perilous journey deep into enemy territory.

Epilogue

Tim stayed in Colombia and worked with Jorge to pursue other leads uncovered during the island raid.

By the time Tim left Colombia, he and the team had rescued over 120 victims and arrested more than a dozen traffickers.

Tim was finally able to return home to his family.  He credits his wife Katherine for inspiring the entire endeavour.

Tim's testimony during the Colombian operation led the United States Congress to pass legislation increasing international co-operation in child trafficking cases.

Human trafficking is a 150 billion-a-year business.  The United States is one of the top destinations for human trafficking and is among the largest consumers of child sex.

There are more humans in slavery today than any other time in history - including when slavery was legal.

Millions of these slaves are children.

End-credits

Caviezel delivers a personal tribute to audience and hails the the kids as being the true heroes.  He ends by urging us to pull out our phones and scan the QR code on screen to buy tickets for others.

God's children are not for sale

Underneath the heavy subject matter, this was extremely dull.

According to sources, Ballard embellished details about the story.

Performances are okay, Javier Navarrete composes an impressive score, but I definitely wouldn't watch again.
