Writer-director Sean Durkin dramatises one of sport's saddest stories.
Zac Efron - Kevin Von Erich
Jeremy Allen White - Kerry Von Erich
Harris Dickinson - David Von Erich
Maura Tierney - Doris Von Erich
Stanley Simons - Michael Von Erich
Holt McCallany - Fritz Von Erich
Lily James - Pam
Summary
Led by family patriarch and promoter Fritz, the Von Erich brothers became household names in the world of professional wrestling in the 1980's.
However, their success is plagued by personal tragedy.
Strength and resilience
Whether you're fully clued up on shit or not, tenderness puts you through the emotional ringer.
Shortly after meeting and beginning a relationship with Pam, Kevin tells future wife about the "Von Erich curse" that killed oldest brother Jack Jr. when he was only a child, supposedly brought on by Fritz changing surname from Adkisson to his mother's.
Efron gives a career best performance and support (particularly from White's The Bear), is almost as muscular as ripped frame.
Wrestling sequences emit furious energy, with accuracy earning praise from the community.
Apart from Ric Flair, biopic's most disappointing aspect was omitting youngest sibling Chris entirely from narrative.
But I guess they had running time to consider.
