Resident Evil 2 (2019) - 1998 Callbacks

Here's what Capcom resurrected from seminal classic.

References and/or details are often called easter eggs, which really pisses me off.

With that said, you'll see none of that shit here.

Miscellany

Box art meat vs Biohazard 2: Dual Shock Ver.*

*Same thing was used for Japanese N64 and Gamecube ports.

If you look closely, Claire's personalised number plate on Harley is MD3 IN H3VN.
Reflecting the back of her Queen inspired Made In Heaven jacket.
Phone number 1998-01-29 on door of Mizoil Gas Station is actually when original was released in Japan.
Nice.

Classic costumes are free to download.

Ahh, the nostalgia.

Shame shit, different areas

G (Stage 2) wrecks roof way before cable car.

Katherine is found laid out at Orphanage, rather than Chief's Office.

In her Runaway scenario, it's revealed that Mayor Warren's daughter is Ben's bird.

Thanks to William implanting embryo, asshole's demise is made even more accurate to Alien origins.

Tyrant (as he's now called), breaks through wall, making a handy shortcut through Press Room.

No prizes for guessing what Mr. X did.

Camera angle outside RPD gate proved popular.

So much so...

Licker jumping through one-way mirror remains predictable.

Finish first run and sit through the credits to see teaser of G (Stage 5) knocking on train door.

Pretty weird really, as this is just a tinkered snippet of CG ending of B scenario.

Wall of flesh looks awesome, but encounter is still soulless.

Cut and paste

S.T.A.R.S. office was undoubtedly the most exciting room to revisit in RPD.

Photo can't be examined, but is abundantly obvious in Wesker's office.

Meanwhile, at NEST.

West Area displays an altered family photo of the Birkins.
Brief stint in Claire's scenario allows Sherry to examine 'a picture taken fairly recently'.
Similarly, Ada finds a 'cropped' version in Leon B.
Presenting one of my favourites.

As Leon approaches boiler room, two zombies burst through door.
Note red vest top and khaki green shorts.
PS. Data gallery stems from PC and Dreamcast ports.
Surely done on purpose?

Sequence re-enacts undead coming through cabin.
And uniformed officer is redone.

Handcuff corridor.

Now for the most obscure of all.

Created purely for remake, Robert Kendo calls infected daughter 'Emmie'.
Claire investigates Emmy's during CG intro.
Spelling aside, a strange coincidence?

Very much doubt it.

Nothing sinister with this next set.

Arukas (Sakura)

Rebecca photo

Seduced by 'this gen', pose of rising rookie is purposely made sexier than recruit.

JoJo (as in Bizarre Adventures)

And best of all.

WEL COME LEON
Notice the space?

Smashing.

Another L is found on desk.
Capcom acknowledges infamous goof of WELLCOME.
2nd Runs only

Horseshit? Disappointing? Lazy? Insulting?

Moving on.

Quickdraw Army vs Colt S.A.A.

Both firearms are exclusive to Claire.

CCTV footage

Licker scurries across window in original area.

Hey skinless beast, show us yer' tongue to echo CG?

Cheers dude.

Art room statue vs Tyranos

Unlike before, Licker falls through ceiling's window off-screen.

Fan service

G (Stage 5)
William's last stare
1.5, Mr. Raccoon and more?

Before all that though, original will run its own show.
