Spider-Man: Far from Home - The scoop and digest

Picking up shortly after the events of Endgame, Jon Watts takes web-slinger on a European vacation.

(Insert National Lampoon joke here).

Tom Holland - Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Samuel L. Jackson - Nick Fury
Jake Gyllenhaal - Quentin Beck/Mysterio
Marisa Tomei - May Parker
Jon Favreau - Happy Hogan
Zendaya - MJ
J. B. Smoove - Julius Dell
Jacob Batalon - Ned Leeds
Martin Starr - Mr. Harrington
Tony Revolori - Flash Thompson

Summary

During an amusing tribute video to Iron Man, Black Widow et al, we're told those disintegrated and ultimately resurrected by Bruce Banner fell foul to 'The Blip'.

Peter Parker is still reeling over the death of Tony Stark, but Midtown School literally gives teen and classmates a break.

A ghosted, and pissed off Fury tracks down Parker in Venice.

Not long after, a water Elemental monster appears and wreaks destructive havoc.

The fishbowl headed Mysterio helps destroy liquid behemoth, but is heroic act merely an illusion?

Mid-credits

Extended cut of final scene in NY has J. Jonah Jameson's Daily Bugle reporter showing Beck's doctored footage of his death, incriminating Parker and also spilling identity beans.

Post-credits

It's revealed that Talos and Soren have been posing as Fury and Maria Hill all along, as real mofo is chilling out on Skrull spaceship.

My Peter Tingles

Bar none, the best Spidey yet.

Kick ass action sequences are complemented by brilliant special effects and glorious ingenuity.

Stark's former employee makes a great villain and Gyllenhaal's performance will at no point make you B.A.R.F.

Holland still whines like your average bitch, but didn't really annoy me.

Never thought I'd say that.

Here's some cute refs thrown in for good measure.

As Beck tortures Parker, shit gets dark when Iron Man crawls from grave, which is probably a nod to Marvel Zombies storyline.

Beck states he's from Earth 616, the hub of comic continuity.

Licence plate on Talos's car is MTU83779 (Marvel Team Up issue 83 July 1979).

Now Peter's secret is out in the open, what next?

Guess we'll find out in a few years time.
