Making 'sense' of Resident Evil 3

From the top.

News report is set a few days before game begins.
September 28, 8:07 p.m. - Raccoon City

Jill is attacked by seemingly invincible bioweapon Nemesis, but manages to escape.

Fellow S.T.A.R.S. member Brad Vickers very briefly guides her through zombie-infested streets.

Our man is bitten protecting Jill inside Bar Jack.
September 29, 2:11 a.m. - Subway Car

Having restored power to substation, Jill escapes with U.B.C.S. mercenaries Mikhail and Nicholai.

Carlos and Tyrell stay behind to search for Dr. Nathaniel Bard, the only person who may know how to make a vaccine for the T-virus.

Unwelcome passenger grabs Mikhail, who sacrifices himself by detonating an explosive, causing train to derail.
September 29, 2:34 a.m. - R.P.D. West Gate

A tragic encounter between Marvin and Brad plays out.

"So...rry..."
His final words as a human are enough for Marvin to lower his gun.

Big mistake.

Yummy yummy for chickenheart's tummy.
It took 'around' 6 hours 27 minutes for Brad to turn.
Of course, zombification process fluctuates between individuals.

Once inside, things get interesting.

Where'd Marvin go?

Unknown.

Having a mooch around reveals:

Lion statue is covered up.
The same applies to medallion area of Goddess statue.

Prior to getting bit, Marvin clearly kept himself busy.

After the formalities of using C4 to blow hole in shower room wall, Carlos reaches the S.T.A.R.S. Office, where section ends at 4:43 a.m.

Before moving on, let's analyse continuity (ignoring items, ammo, safe and locker combinations).

Control box

Specific window

So it's different in previous game?

(Frowns).

Mutilated cop

Recently deceased doesn't have a radio, which makes no sense.

So presumably after Carlos and Tyrell left, an injured Marvin:

1. Removed blankets from said statues;
2. Gave officer working radio;
3. Used computer to close Reception Room gate; and
4. Taped up control box

All for Leon and Claire's benefit.

Look, I was bored, alright?
Okay mate.

Going 'back' to Resi 2.

Poor bastard's condition gradually worsens, and once Tyrant is triggered by extinguishing flames of wrecked chopper, the next time we visit Main Hall, he should be treated no different to any other member of the undead.
Anyway, I digress.

Several minutes earlier - Subway Tunnels

For some inexplicable reason, an explosion sets Nemesis on fire.

What the... FUCK is going on?
Understandably confused (like the rest of us), baddie scrambles towards nearby river.

Jill then contacts Carlos (who we know is still at S.T.A.R.S.)

"Jill! Come in!"
At this exact moment, boss fight begins, meaning it's 4:43 a.m.

After falling into the drink, parasite within its body mutates, transforming creature into a deadlier, more efficient predator.
Saint Michael's Clock Tower confirms time.
This is important, and you'll see why later.

When attempting to leave area, fallen behemoth suddenly wakes up, infecting Jill with the T-virus by snagging her with tentacle.

I've handled some small pricks in my time, but this is just taking the piss.
Roughly half a day later

Carlos locates Jill and carries 'supercop' away.
September 29, 9:20 p.m. - Spencer Memorial Hospital

Carlos battles his way through to Bard's office.

He discovers the good doctor has been murdered.
By whom?

Nicholai, you naughty boy.

Biologist recorded a video message at 11 p.m. revealing that although Umbrella hired him to develop a vaccine, those at the top now want it destroyed.
Carlos administers the vaccine.
Sept. 30, 1998 (no time)

An emergency news broadcast reports the contagion spreading throughout city has been designated uncontainable, and on October 1, Raccoon City will be completely destroyed in a missile strike.

Now fully recovered, sleepyhead awakes to a further update informing the missile strike will occur in just hours, with payload designed to eradicate all biological material.

October 1, 12:03 a.m. - Spencer Memorial Hospital

This is now after Resi 2.

Jill pursues Carlos underground to NEST 2, and even though Carlos melts fucker into mush, G-virus strain 'magically' kicks in, allowing Nemmy to become a giant mass of flesh and tentacles.

FUCKING STUPID.

Heroine uses railgun to finally annihilate monster for good.

It's not confirmed when city is microwaved, but one thing's for sure, it's daylight.
And that's a wrap.

So things flow pretty well, but one file fucks everything up.

Unfinished Activity Log

Nicholai's observations of collecting data on bioweapons runs from 26 September.

But we'll start on Page 2.

9/28

2000. Got eyes on two S.T.A.R.S.: a male (infected) and female. Bioweapon is pursuing the female.

Let's rewind.

Game officially begins in Jill's apartment at 8:07 p.m. and as already established, Brad wasn't bitten until a short time later.

HA HA HA!

Page 3

0700. Metamorphosis in the bioweapon triggered by a hostile encounter with JV (video attached). JV is non-responsive. Collected samples per orders.

Remarkable really, considering boss fight started at 4:43 a.m.

So he's only out by 2 hours 17 minutes.

When Carlos finds Jill, it's said to be 'roughly half a day later'.

Regardless of ambiguity, they don't reach hospital until 9:20 p.m., so that's a helluva long walk, especially with Carlos carrying the burden of unconscious cargo.

9/30

0030. Over 17 hours have elapsed since JV's exposure to virus.

If we believe game, time would indeed be after midnight.

But one final issue.

0400. Vaccine recovered and administered to JV by CO, a solider in MV platoon.

Bard recorded video message at 11 p.m. on September 29, so let's assume that Carlos found his corpse the following day (not long before 4am).

Otherwise, the wicked bastard made poor cow wait nearly 5 hours.

WHATEVER.
